Five Things That Made Me Smile This Week #26

Hello, again! It’s been a bit of a mental week and I’m thoroughly exhausted, if I’m honest. I haven’t had much time to myself (and you know how much I enjoy that) so I’m feeling a little testy. But, it’s time to take a deep breath, reflect on the week gone by, and prepare to do it all again…

1) All the pastries

I returned to work on Monday after a week off to a welcome breakfast for not one, not two, but four new employees. We may have overestimated how many pastries we needed, which meant there was a mountain of baked goods to enjoy – a good way to start my week back.

2) Wilde Like Me

Thursday saw one of my favourite YouTuber’s debut novel released. I pre-ordered Louise Pentland’s Wilde Like Me on Amazon and it actually arrived the day before it was supposed to. I haven’t had a chance to sit down and start it yet, but I’m looking forward to getting stuck in.

Enough said.

4) Horse riding

I went horse riding on Saturday for the first time since my horse died, around four years ago. I used a voucher I’d received for my work anniversary to book in a couple of treks; nothing too strenuous to avoid hurting my ankle. I felt quite emotional about getting back in the saddle, but it brought back so many happy memories. My horse was also called Liam, which was adorable.

5) The finishing touches

My parents came back to Edinburgh on Sunday to get the final bits and pieces for my flat, including ordering a carpet for the living room. I’ve got all the essentials now, so it’s starting to feel more like home. I can’t wait for everything to be done and I can focus on enjoying my time here.
