Five Things That Made Me Smile This Week #35

Monday has only gone and snuck up on us again, which means it’s time to reflect on the week gone by and what made it a good ‘un. From fireworks to food (obviously!), here’s what made me smile this week.

1) New glasses

I picked up my new Cath Kidston glasses on Monday. They’re similar to my prescription sunglasses with flowers on the legs, but this time they have blue frames instead of black. I’m 50% less likely to forget to take a pair with me now!

2) Fringe fireworks

Fringe fireworks

Monday heralded the end of Fringe, which meant it was time for the celebratory fireworks show. My office is directly opposite Edinburgh Castle, so has one of the best views in the city of it. This year, the orchestra played a rendition of Once Upon A Dream which was beautiful against the colourful skies. If you ever get a chance to watch the show, I thoroughly recommend.

3) Mexican food

I’ve had a brief intermission from talking about food in these round-ups, but I went back to Basement on Thursday for a spontaneous Mexican. It’s recently been taken over, but this was the first time my friend and I realised the menu had changed. Just look at those nachos… I’m glad to say, it’s still one of my favourite bars in Edinburgh.

4) Getting the chop

So, I little while ago I put blue in the bottom of my hair. I loved it at the time, but it soon faded to a stubborn green colour that refused to come out no matter how many times I washed and bleached it. The solution? I chopped it off. Now, I’m back to short blonde hair just in time for going to Menorca on Saturday!

5) Seeing my girls

I hadn’t seen Penny and Bo since my brother’s birthday party, so I made sure to spend some time with them when I was down to get my hair done. It was a beautiful day on Saturday, so I managed to lounge out the back garden with them for a while before heading inside for some cuddles.

What made you smile this week?

Until next time,
Donna x
