Five Things That Made Me Smile This Week #40

Hello, hello, hello! I hope you’ve had a wonderful week, whatever you’ve been up to. I can’t quite believe I’m on week 40 of these round-ups! Even more unbelievable, that means there’s only 12 weeks left of the year… Better start Christmas shopping soon! So, what did this week entail?

1) Sticking to a gym routine

I mentioned in last week’s round-up that I finally made it back to the gym after a lengthy hiatus. I’m pleased to say I’ve managed to keep up a good routine this week, having gone four times. I’ve been sticking to the bike for cardio, then doing 100 sit-ups and weights, as well as 50 lat pulls and seated dips. I’m easing myself back into more strenuous work, but I’m hoping my efforts start to pay off soon.

2) Seeing Alter Bridge

I got to see one of my favourite bands, Alter Bridge, on Thursday at the Usher Hall. They’re still touring their record from last year, one of my top 5 albums of 2016, but opting for more intimate venues than their last UK tour in December. They were on top form and played all the classics, but I can’t lie I was a little disappointed not to hear some of my favourites like “Calm The Fire” and “Fortress” – hopefully next time!

3) Choosing my subscription box

Remember I won a subscription box of my choice a few weeks ago? Well, I finally made my choice! I’ve signed up for a 6-month subscription to Tipple Box, which delivers all the ingredients I need to make a few cocktails each month. I can’t wait to receive my first one!

4) A few after-work drinks

We had a big night out after work on Friday for a few people who are leaving the company. It was a really good turnout, so we had booked an area of Grand Cru for us all. I’ve never seen so many shots consumed within such a short space of time! I only had one tequila, but there was sambuca and Chartreuse doing the rounds. Needless to say, a lot of drunken hugs and selfies soon followed…

5) Mum came to visit

I woke up on Sunday to the sound of someone trying to get into my flat… Thankfully, it was my Mum! She came up to do some painting, then we headed out into town to wander round the shops and have some lunch. We went to Miros, the Mexican restaurant on Rose Street, which was yummy albeit being served by really grumpy waiters. All in all, a nice way to end the week!

Until next time,
Donna x
