Five Things That Made Me Smile This Week #46
Week 46? Forty-fricken-six?! I still can’t believe how fast this year is going. I swear, since it hit autumn the days have been flying by. The Christmas markets have officially opened in Edinburgh and the city is looking merry and bright. I’ve had a pretty good week with plenty to keep me busy, so here are my highlights.
1) After-work drinks
To welcome a new colleague to the team, a few of us ventured to the pub on Thursday night. To save on pennies, we went to the Caley Picture House, which is the nicest Wetherspoons Edinburgh has to offer. It’s even better with the app that means you don’t have to leave the comfort of your seat to order. Although, I did get carried away buying multiple drinks with the click of a button…
2) Watching the rugby
I was lucky enough to head to Murrayfield with my parents on Saturday to watch Scotland vs. New Zealand. This was my first time ever watching professional rugby live and it was brilliant! The atmosphere in the stadium was infectious, despite the incessant booing for the aggravating referee. It was a really great game and Scotland did us proud against the formidable All Blacks. I don’t think I’ve ever been so cold in my life, though.
3) Starting Christmas shopping
I’ve been getting into the festive spirit this week, having a good old browse for Christmas presents and decorations for my new flat. I even started my shopping by ordering my first Secret Santa gift of the year for a colleague at work. Roll on payday so I can get everyone else sorted!
4) Sunday treat
I took myself to Benefit to get my brows tamed on Sunday and met my friend afterwards for a late lunch. I’ve been watching what I’m eating, so I treated myself to some katsu chicken noodles from Treacle (one of my favourite bars on Broughton Street). It was my first time ever trying their food and I wasn’t disappointed! The portion size was deceptively huge and it tasted delicious – do recommend.
5) Sticking to a routine
I’ve discovered a spark of motivation recently that I’ve been missing for sometime. It’s made me take my health seriously, adjust my diet and up my fitness regime again. I’m utterly determined to lose the weight I’ve put on and get back to feeling confident in my skin. I’ll admit my body confidence is at an all-time low, but I know I’ve lost weight before and I’ll do it again.
