Privacy Policy

Thanks for visiting Reviews & Ramblings! Below you’ll find how the site works and how your personal information is used.

What personal data do I collect?

If you get in touch via the contact form, I’ll be able to see the name and email address you submit. I do not store this information outside of WordPress or pass it on to any third parties.

I do not offer a subscription newsletter, so you won’t be getting any unwanted emails from me. If you have followed my blog, I do not receive any personal information about you beyond a link to your blog. You can manage your email preferences in your WordPress dashboard.

How do I keep this data safe?

My site uses a secure HTTPS domain, so you can browse safely. You can view the SSL certificate by clicking on the padlock in the address bar.

What about comments?

When you leave a comment, WordPress collects the data shown in the comments form, and also your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

If you use Gravatar, your profile picture may be visible to the public upon approval of your comment. You can find out more information in the Gravatar service privacy policy.

Akismet anti-spam service may collect information about you, including your IP address, user agent, referrer, and site URL (along with other information directly provided by you such as your name, username, email address, and the comment itself).

Do I use cookies?

Yes, my blog uses tracking cookies to gather information about users and offer a better experience. Cookies are also used to provide tracking data to Google Analytics, so I can view vital website statistics. You can opt-out of cookies at any time by disabling them in your browser.

If you leave a comment on the site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience, so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. You can find out more about how WordPress uses cookies in their policy.

What about third parties?

I do not sell, trade or transfer any personal data to third parties. Embedded content or links to other sites are liable for their own actions.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How about plug-ins?

Hummingbird uses the Stackpath Content Delivery Network (CDN). Stackpath may store web log information of site visitors, including IPs, UA, referrer, Location and ISP info of site visitors for 7 days. Files and images served by the CDN may be stored and served from countries other than your own. Stackpath’s privacy policy can be found here.

Akismet anti-spam service can collect a commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).

How long do I retain your data?

If you leave a comment on the site, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so WordPress can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue, via cookies.

What rights do you have over your data?

If you have left a comment on this site or contacted me, you can request to receive the personal data held about you. You can also request any data held to be erased. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
